To expand parking and create space for bikes and storage ak83 arkitekter have designed a multifunctional carport adjacent to a single-family house. Besides parking space for two cars, the new addition houses safe parking of bikes screening of garbage bins, and spacious general storage.
A simple cube clad with thin cedar slats makes out the indoor bike parking and storage. In time the wood will age in beautiful grey tones. Floating above the roof spans across the car parking and embeds at the plot boundary. The zink profiles make the roof stand out as its own geometric element, where the whole construction is concluded by a concrete wall shields the backyard. Together the three materials interplays and will in time age and fit the house in yellow bricks.
